Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Layer ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Description of Service

Layer is an AI routing platform that provides:

  • Unified API for multiple AI model providers
  • Request routing and fallback management
  • Configuration management tools
  • Analytics and monitoring
  • Self-hosting capabilities (open source)

Account Registration

To use Layer's hosted service, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old
  • Provide accurate account information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of unauthorized access

You are responsible for all activities under your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Transmit malicious code or viruses
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use the Service for fraudulent purposes
  • Abuse or overload our infrastructure
  • Resell the Service without permission
  • Use the Service to harm others

Third-Party Services

Layer integrates with third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). You are responsible for:

  • Complying with each provider's terms of service
  • Managing your API keys and credentials
  • Paying for usage with each provider
  • Understanding each provider's limitations

We are not responsible for third-party service availability, pricing, or changes.

Pricing and Payment

Free Tier

We offer a free tier with limited features. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free tier at any time.

Paid Plans

For paid plans:

  • Payment is due in advance
  • Fees are non-refundable unless required by law
  • We may change pricing with 30 days notice
  • You are responsible for applicable taxes

Self-Hosted

The open source version of Layer is free to use under the MIT License. You are responsible for your own hosting costs.

Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted access to the Service
  • Error-free operation
  • Specific uptime percentages (for free tier)

We may suspend or terminate service for maintenance, security, or legal reasons.

Intellectual Property

Our Rights

Layer and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Open Source

The Layer open source software is licensed under the MIT License. You may use, modify, and distribute it according to that license.

Your Content

You retain ownership of your configurations, prompts, and other content. You grant us a license to use this content solely to provide the Service.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Layer and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Non-payment of fees
  • Any reason with notice (for free tier)

You may terminate your account at any time through your dashboard settings.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
